Exactly. The main way to get promoted at Google is to claim that you launched something important. Results in a lot of busywork and misaligned incentives.
That amazing internal knowledge graph you're talking about folks on the outside never seeing? That is very ironic because that knowledge graph used to be Freebase.com and a lot of the data came from the open data community who volunteered their efforts and expertise. Then Google bought Metaweb and shut down Freebase.
I think it's far from a fad, the adoption of the semantic web has been enormous in the past 5 years. Almost every major tech company (and many financial institutions) now have their own Knowledge Graph team.
Why are you reading and replying to the comments when you haven't read the article? You've come at this with a terrible take by inventing a non-existent NDA that would exonerate the CEO. Why bother?

I don't know if I were the former intern in question writing a blog post about this I'd be damn sure to specify that there's no NDA or other agreement in place that would legally prevent him from doing this.
Because of your stupid statement about it being ingrained in the culture. It's more like a combination of unemployment, English know-how, ineffective/overworked police because of underfunding, the existence of this attack vector and a little tech knowledge to exploit it.
You're on HN and it's supposed to have somewhat better discourse, don't bring the quality of this site down. Next time try googling the population (!), per capita income, rates of English profiency and technical know-how, international phone calling prices, unemployment rates of the two countries... and apply some basic statistics / common sense. There are just some of the factors, there are probably more.
As an Indian I agree with what you said. Hell one top government official recently said Indians are by nature mostly non law-abiding people.
There are innumerable street smart sayings used even by otherwise educated and well paid folks which just amount to "Benefit by hook or crook and fuck this world".
I don't know why you're up in arms about this, but it's clearly not false. Almost all of the games content is PvE based. The PvP mode is very small in scope compared to everything else that's available.
I think GP is defending your initial statement, not arguing against it. They're responding to the person who disagreed with you about the game being mostly PvE.
