Why? There's no benefit to the first person view part of it at all.

Malarone gave me insane almost-kindof-sortof waking dreams of concerning character. I have never had anything like that before or since.

Malarone? Interesting, because that's supposed to be the prophylactic therapy with the mildest side effects. I have taken it many times and have never had any, and – up until now – I had also never heard of anyone having some.

My snap was also on Malarone.

In universe the society of earth and the federation only happened because there was a devestating global thermonuclear war that left the survivors being highly selected for collectivist impulses and then on top of that the eugenics wars where there was another filter (even the common people).

You’re thinking the servants exist primarily to execute tasks. Servants exist primarily to abuse.

For this system. Their fantasy is effectively automated luxury palaces and the poor exist primarily for exploitation (mostly sexual and gladiatorial).

It’s because they are training them as much for engagement as actual problem solving at this point.

These have been made on and off since 1995 at the latest. They never work out even though you'd think they'd be super popular for 3d modelers at least. I first encountered one for SGI workstations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceOrb_360 as one example.

A lot of people who haven't seen one are confuse it with a trackball, but SpaceMouse and its kin aren't trackballs, they're double cascaded joysticks on a fixed mount shaped like a ball.

The stump om the base works as a 2 axis tilting joystick, and the stem of the ball works like its own 2 axis XY sliding pad with extra push/pull plus twist axes. There's a wire through the stem of the knob to get the readings. Together they capture the whole 6 axis deflections for the knob.

Trackballs OTOH is just rubbing a mousepad rolled up to be a ball to operate a Magic Mouse while charging.

I love the SpaceOrb 360 and still have mine but there are no drivers for it anymore.

I wish this was true in the Bay Area. 5-MeO-DMT does not seem to be available and it’s supposedly a unique experience.

Start going to festivals?

You can just order domestic US.

Othr than bubble $, not really. The true "golden time" was the 1980s. Creation of Cisco, Sun and SGI, and so many other things (like the personal computer), all new, incredible energy, mostly positive.

Internet was the new frontier in the 90s, and future so bright, “you gotta wear shades.”

There isn’t unlimited funding. That’s temporary and it’s going to be great when it runs out.

That's just it, though; for people like the ones in SV, it doesn't run out. There's always a golden parachute, always a politician willing to give a bailout, always enough money to just stop working for good.

When you reach that level, you have to work incredibly hard to screw things up.

I think you've not experienced one of the real downturns. There isn't always a golden parachute for most of the people involved.
