I fail to see how they're lazy, sounds like they were quite the opposite. And really, the students explained the crux of the matter quite well. You can request solidarity, but you cannot force it by thuggery. You might bring out some brats and end up in the still-chilly water of the local river.

Here is the core of the problem with this kind of "UX designer" persons. You see the need of the user doesn't matter, the world change so a user that is perfectly happy has to adapt to a change he didn't ask for because otherwise the "UX designer" has no life purpose.

I think that there is a statistic reason hidden somewhere deep but would be on long scale.

Before modern science, you needed a man and a woman to make a baby. Maybe it is for monogamous societies or would apply also to polygamy but there should be just a common average of the number of child a father will procreate. Especially taking care of the fact that he needs to be able to take care of them.

Removing outliers, must men will not do more than 1 to 4 kids for example.

So somehow if you have a too high ratio of women, birthrate will decrease, and same too many men not enough mother do birthrate would decrease also.

So there should be a natural regulation at big scale to keep the population stable or growing.

And probably, the individuals contributing to birth with the good ratio would be the one reproducing themselves so helping correcting anomalies in the long run.

There are probably also environnemental and genetic factors that are at play to determine baby gender, not only perfect randomness, that are still unknown to us.

Sometimes you can use SMT for “theorem proving”. It is a rather broad term. I don’t think they added something much different than what they already had.

Agree on point 1. Now even tiny websites that wouldn't be a target for anyone are hiding behind Cloudfare. If you are so worried about people sending requests to your website then take it offline, that will get you 100% success preventing bots

As someone who hosts a few “tiny websites” that are “hiding behind Cloudflare”, it’s because of some incredibly misbehaved botnet traffic that’s otherwise persistently scraping via residential proxies.

This is a hobby for me. It’s for my enjoyment and it allows me to provide resources that others enjoy using. However, I’m not going to allow literally 99%+ of requests to be aggressive scrapers that won’t give up until you’ve got a heavy-handed solution in place.

I hate it too, but the alternative is even more consolidation, so unfortunately this is just the reality right now and you’ll have to get over it until when/if things improve.

Sorry, this just isn’t true. Some clients just don’t have the resources to pay for a dev playing whack-a-mole against residential proxy bots that are basically indistinguishable from legit users, but en masse can take down a VPS.

Rate limiting doesn’t work when individual IPs are only making a handful of requests.

So that’s why we’re using CF/Fastly. Too bad, I’d prefer not to, but there is just not an alternative at this point.

The raw direct connection is very much alive . I put the sketchier stuff on CF because I don’t want my IP (and my identity) to be tarnished.
