This sounds like a fun job! I wish I had the freedom to move on from my current work. I don’t get why you’re using python for compute bound problems though.

More than likely python is just the frontend/dsl and the actual computations are executed with c/c++/gpu code.

What's wrong with using Python for compute?

Nothing wrong really if the python in turn uses libraries with c bindings or something.
