1. So we can't score the first paragraph (or similar-sized block), and not short texts? Not deal-breaker, but a limitation.

2. Doesn't the score vary by each AI system state - its model, programming, harness, etc.? Claude's output today doesn't match Gemini's, nor Claude from 2 years ago.

But I wouldn't characterize it in terms of being hard.

It's been a work in progress for many years,... so more of a problem solving and exploratory endeavor.

by rolling your own they don't mean write a VPN from scratch, but host a VPN on a VPS.

The term "rolling your own" as it applies to the internet means writing your own code. For example, "rolling your own encryption" would mean writing your own protocols, algorithms, ciphers, hash formulas, etc...

Hosting something on someone else's servers is "server or VPS renting". Self hosting implies running something on your own servers you own and fully control.

So lets run with they mean running it on a VPS. That is still better than all the delicious eggs in one big basket but it's also risky as there is a money trail and most VPS providers can live-clone, live-migrate a VM to capture and perform forensics all memory contents without impacting performance. If going this route I would try to get one of the cheap "gaming" physical servers and try to find a way to pay that is hard to track. One can at least update the firmware, change all the IPMI accounts and lock it down a little bit.

On a bigger scale one can get their own colocation space. KimDotCom for example had a massive colo in Equinix in Ashburn, VA that ran for a very long time.

well I have good news! normal people don't have to sacrifice, fossil fuel companies do. if the govt mandates something (like with the ozone layer, or with lead acid battery recycling), something that was once impossible becomes possible.

and then what? are people going to ride horses to work? beg on the street because the manufacturing companies have closed and they lost their source of income? or are you just dumb or maybe naive to think that banning CFC and fossil fuel consumption would have the same effect on the everyday lives of normal people?

more developed countries are already prepared for what you describe: people would (continue to) take public transit, and rich people would (continue to) pay for the unemployed to live and retrain until they get new jobs. If a country was missing these basic features it would be scarier.
